Welcome/About Me

Hello, my name is Lisa McFaddin and I currently graduated college from Texas Woman’s University in Denton, Texas. During my experience with TWU I was a student teacher for 1st grade at Watauga Elementary. This portfolio is a collection of all my educational experiences during my three years at TWU. I am not what many would call your traditional student. I started back to college after a 20 year absents. During those 20 years I raised a beautiful daughter who has brought so much joy to my life and a PTA board member for both Watauga Elementary and Watauga Middle school. When my daughter graduated high school and decided to attend college I jumped at the opportunity to continue with my college education. I received my degree in Early Education (EC-4th). This decision made perfect sense because of my involvement with my daughter’s education as well as being extremely active in organizations such as the PTA. I enjoyed getting a chance to help the teachers and interacting with the students was always such a joy.

I was born in Grapevine, Texas but moved to Tampa, Florida when I was 3 years old. I did most of my growing up years in Florida and by the time I was in Junior High School my family decided to move back to Texas. My parents have lived in Southlake, Texas since 1982. I have one sibling, a younger sister, who now lives in Boyd with her family.  I live in Mansfield, Texas and have substituted a lot for the Mansfield and Birdville ISD’s while I finished up my courses at TWU. Not only am I a mother, I am also the proud grandmother of two of the most amazing little girls, named Brianna (who is 6 years old) and Madison (who is 2 years old).

I choose this career path because of my love for children. Getting the chance to go back to school to receive my Education degree has always been a dream of mine and now with my graduation behind me I can honestly look back and say it is not a dream anymore but a reality.

I am looking forward to starting my professional career as an elementary school teacher. Getting the chance to interact and teach young children is both exciting and rewarding for me. I can’t wait to get set up in my own classroom and meet my future students. Together we will both learn a lot from each other.
